March Madness Memo, 17 March 2006

What a day!  I love the NCAA tournament.

• I'm so disappointed in the Big Ten.  Six teams from our conference were in the tournament.  Three of them were upset today in the first round.  This is just embarrassing for the Big Ten conference:
• Wisconsin got crushed by Arizona.
• Iowa lost in a huge upset to Northwestern State.
• Michigan State lost to George Mason.
• I was sad to see Southern Illinois lose to West Virginia.
• I really thought Albany had a chance to become the first 16-seed to ever win a game.  In the end, UConn prevailed.
• It looked like Murray State had a chance at UNC, but in the end, the Tarheels prevailed.
• But Bradley redeemed the day by evicting Kansas from the tournament.  For the second time in a row, Kansas loses in the first round.  I find this immensely satisfying.
• My bracket is now in shambles.  I still love this tournament.
