Illinois 60, Michigan State 50

This was certainly a nice win for the Illini.

  • Dee Brown had an amazing game.  Everything was working for him.
  • The technical on Weber was BS.  Nice of Izzo to tactfully acknowledge that.
  • This was an extremely impressive performance on defense.  MSU was the top scoring team in the Big Ten prior to this game.  Holding them to 50 is just excellent.
  • But offensively, the Illini simply weren't very good.  Getting 34 of our 60 points from Dee Brown is not a repeatable way to win games in the Big Ten.
  • And let us hope that we never again have a game where Augie gives us 7 turnovers.
  • Big Ten play is upon us.  Every game will give us more information about how good our team really is.  They're better than I expected them to be.  In fact, they're good -- the question is how good.
