Illinois 58, Georgetown 48
- It is counterintuitive to say anything negative about a
team which is 9-0. Still, we have to wonder how our team is going to fare
as the competition gets tougher.
- This was ugly. The shooting percentage for the night was
32.3%.
- Pruitt: 3 points in 13 minutes. These numbers don't
sound like one of our starters.
- Randle: 0-for-3 from the arc. Was his shooting a few
games ago just a fluke?
- Augustine: 4-10 on FG. That's not what we've come to
expect from King James.
- Brown: 3 assists. He's a point guard. 'Nuff said.
- McBride: 8 points, no assists. Nothing to complain
about, nothing to praise.
- We keep saying our team is going to get a lot better over
the course of the season. The problem with this logic is that other teams
are improving too. Do we believe that our team is advancing at a
dramatically higher rate than others?
- I'm still a glass-half-full fan, but this was an ugly,
ugly win.
- Now for the good stuff:
- Augie had 13 rebounds. That's huge.
- Jamar Smith was 3-of-5 from the three-point line.
- Free throw percentage at 78.6%. Better.
- Defense! Outstanding. Is our defense really as good as
it seemed in the first half last night?
- Only 10 turnovers the whole night. That's an improvement,
as most of our games have been in the high teens.
- Tomorrow's game will be tough. Oregon has never lost in Portland. Our team will be playing after a difficult travel experience with basically no
time for prep and practice. It will take a studly performance for our
team to be 10-0 Sunday morning.
- One last question: Why didn't Calvin Brock play?
